UI Women's Leadership Conference Call for Proposals!
March 25, 2015
The UI Women's Center, Professional Development and Learning Office, and the Athena Association of Professional Women are partnering to hold the 5th bi-annual Women's Leadership Conference. You are invited to submit proposals for presentations and workshops that address the myriad of climate issues women face in higher education, the workplace and beyond. Conference sessions may focus on women in leadership, transitions between professional and personal roles, professional development skills, and exploration of current research on women and gender.
The theme for the conference is "Yes, and...The power of We." "Yes, and..." is a concept derived from improvisational comedy. In order to collaboratively build a scene, one person presents an opportunity for interaction and invites others to expand upon their idea. For more information visit http://www.uidaho.edu/pdl/womens-leadership. To submit proposals visit https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WLC2015. The deadline for proposals is February 2, 2015.

  • Presentations and Service Learning Opportunities from the Native American Student Center
The Native American Student Center (NASC) and the Native American Student Association (NASA) will host the 16th annual Tutxinmepu Pow wow on April 4 - 5, 2015 in the Kibbie Dome. Every year this important cultural event brings in many tribal leaders, elders, students, and community members from the Northwest, across the nation, and even Canada. Dancers and drummers who travel the pow-wow circuit grace the U of I campus with vibrant dancing and singing that brings honor and pride to the UI Native American students. While this even is essential in strengthening our recruitment and retention efforts towards Native students, it also presents a vital opportunity for our entire community to get involved and expand our cultural knowledge base by witnessing firsthand the strength and vitality of the Native culture. NASC can provide the following opportunities to support your Spring 2015 curriculum
    • In-class presentations by NASC staff on the background and history of pow wows.
    • Allow service learning opportunities by having students volunteer with the UI Native American Student Association to help at the pow wow.
