Imagine No Malaria
As an international Body, the United Methodist Church has embarked on a $75 million health initiative called Imagine No Malaria. Only a decade ago, Malaria killed an average of 1 million people annually in Sub-Saharan Africa. This is a completely preventable disease. Through Imagine No Malaria, the annual number of malaria deaths has already been reduced to 600,000. This is still far too many needless deaths.

The North Carolina Annual Conference has a goal of raising $1 million for this cause and is asking that local congregations participate in an Advent offering for Imagine No Malaria. At Christ Community, we will have a Christmas manger draped in a mosquito net to remind us of the vulnerability of the Christ Child and the miracle of life. There will be an offering box next to the manger and people are welcome to make donations as they wish through Christmas Eve. A gift of $10 buys 1 mosquito net for a child's bed or 2 doses of malaria vaccine. If you'd like one, Imagine No Malaria offering envelopes are available next to the collection box.
