F.A.Qs.
Q: What powers do the Office Bearers (President, Secretary, Treasurer and Vice-President) of a P&C have?

A:  None, by themselves. The Executive Committee, which consists of all Office Bearers and not less than three (3) other members and the Principal as an ex officio member in a school of over 100 students. In a school of less than 100 students all the Office Bearers plus two (2) other members and the Principal make up the Executive Committee. The Executive Committee have the power to control and manage the affairs and finances of the P&C when the full P&C cannot meet (refer to P&C Constitution Rule 9.2). The Executive Committee must provide minutes of its meetings to the next General Meeting of the P&C for adoption or ratification of any decisions made.  A quorum is required for an Executive Committee Meeting and all of the members of the Executive Committee must be given not less than 48 hours’ notice of a meeting. (P&C Constitution Rule 16.2)

Outrage as chaplains axed at almost 100 public schools

This week WACSSO responded to the news that almost 100 schools had their chaplain funding cut for next year, after an inequitable model (percentage of student population) for distributing Federal National School Chaplaincy Program funds between public and private schools was used, instead of a needs-based model. WACSSO has labelled this decision appalling and a complete contradiction of the move towards needs-based funding in our education system.

Has your school had its chaplaincy funding cut? We would like to hear from you about how your school is dealing with the loss of funds. Please contact the WACSSO office on 9264 4000 or email communications@wacsso.wa.edu.au
