Welcome to Wilbersen, Bethsaida, and Ledinancia!
This past month we had the honor of welcoming three new children into our homes: Wilbersen, Bethsaida, and Ledinancia. The siblings were brought to us by IBESR, the Hatian equivilent of child services.
Their mother had moved with her children to Port-au-Prince to seek a better life; however, she was struggling to keep up the payments on the little house where they were living. When she became a month behind on rent, the landlord threatened to burn the house down with all of her things in it, and whoever might be inside.
Fleeing from this situation, she dropped her children off at IBESR for a short time as she tried to secure a new living situation. After the children had been there for three weeks, it became clear that the mother was nowhere to be found and was not coming back anytime soon. In early November, IBESR brought them to our home in the hopes that we could take them in and care for them.
We are unsure what the future will hold for these three, but we have welcomed them with open arms and are so thankful to be able to provide a loving home for them!

Child Hope 2015 Calendars are Now Available!
Our 2015 calendars are now available! Each custom-designed calendar features photos of each one our kids, along with their birthdays marked each month. These calendars make lovely Christmas gifts, and serve as a great reminder to pray for the children of MDL each day! They are available with a suggested donation of $20 per calendar. Santa Barbara 6th Graders Partner with 6th Graders in Haiti
 For the past few months, 6th graders from Providence and Coastline Christian Academy in Santa Barbara, CA have been partnering together with the 5th and 6th grade classes at the MDL School in Haiti! The kids have been writing letters back and forth, and have even Skyped together on a few occasions. They have been able to share about their favorite sports, how they came to know Christ, and even sang Christmas carols to each other in both English and Creole!
 The 6th graders in Santa Barbara have also been doing school supply drives during the holidays to send supplies down to their new friends in Haiti. It has been an incredible experience on both ends; we are so excited to be part of this relationship and hopefully create some new lifelong friendships across the globe! |
