ETHIOPIA GOES TO BIOFACH

ProFound will bring 8 Ethiopian honey processors to Biofach 2015! Their participation is a reward for their outstanding progress through our Market Access Facilitation programme. 

During two years of intensive cooperation between ASPIRE partners and honey processors, ProFound audited these processors, educated them about European honey markets and prepared them for market entry. Read more...

CBI MARKET INTELLIGENCE NEWS

Following a tender procedure, the Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries (CBI) has selected ProFound to continue carrying out market research for 7 sectors. These sectors all fall within the agricultural scope, ranging from natural ingredients such as honey, vegetables oils and botanicals to wine and coffee.

In addition, ProFound will continue to carry out CBI tailored intelligence. At the moment, we are working on factsheets for several natural ingredients, jointly commissioned by CBI and German Import Promotion Desk (IPD), and are in a start-up phase of projects on tea and honey from Vietnam. 

THE IN2NI NETWORK IS LAUNCHED!

NATURAL INGREDIENTS IN AFRICA

ProFound continues to support CBI programme managers in rolling out their natural ingredients projects across Africa. Sector bottlenecks are mostly country specific. Egyptian exporters face quality and value addition constraints which limit their success on the EU market (Read more). In contrast, the lack in cooperation and association at all levels of the value chain makes it difficult for South African exporters to leverage opportunities on the EU market (Read more). However, there are also many opportunities for learning and synergies between the programmes: both in terms of project design as well as in their implementation.

KOSOVO ON THE ROAD TO THE MARKET

In 2014, ProFound took part in exciting initiatives to strengthen the Kosovar industry. 

Commissioned by Promoting Private Sector Employment (PPSE) programme of Swisscontact, and in cooperation with Riinvest Institute, we conducted an assessment for the processed fruit and vegetable sector in Kosovo to identify the main prospects and bottlenecks in the Kosovar market for processed fruits and vegetables. Read more…

On another front, ProFound acted as an examiner during the training in FairWild Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), conducted by Klaus Dürbeck and Stefan Lermer in the context of a GIZ-supported programme for sustainable wild-collection in Kosovo. Read more…
 

NEW FRONTIER: AFGHANISTAN & PAKISTAN

Together with its consortium partner Klaus Dürbeck Consulting, ProFound has won the tender for the CBI Export Development and Promotion Programmes for Natural Ingredients in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Covering a period of 4 years, the programmes aim to improve the export competitiveness of SMEs in developing countries, through tailored interventions at company and institutional level. Read more...

EXPRO FOOD INGREDIENTS ASIA

In the context of CBI's Food Ingredients Programme in Asia, ProFound supported companies from the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia and Pakistan during the EXPRO in France and Germany. The participants of the EXPRO focused on a wide range of food ingredients, including processed fruits, coconut oil, tea, coffee, cocoa, honey, spices and herbs, edible nuts and rice. Together with local consultants, CBI experts Joost Pierrot and Jeroen Kruft, as well as trainer Julian Lawson Hill, ProFound was responsible for guiding the companies through their market entry strategies. Read more...
