veski highlights


From bugs in the classroom to speed meetings with scientists, veski has continued to deliver a program of activities and events as part of the veski inspiring students (& teachers) program. With the support of the veski connection, students and teachers from Neerim District, Mooroopna and Kyneton secondary colleges and surrounding schools have benefited from a range of unique experiences. [Read more]

Hundreds of students have now participated in BioEYES, an innovative, hands-on program, delivered in conjunction with veski, which teaches students about developmental biology, stem cells and regenerative medicine using live zebrafish. [Read more about Neerim District & Kyneton and Mooroopna]

Students from across Victoria submitted posters about 2014 Victoria Fellows after meeting them at a speed meet a scientist session in August. A poster about Tobias Horrocks submitted by students of Kyneton Secondary College was selected as the winner for the most outstanding scientific poster. Each of the three students who created the poster will receive two passes to the Australian Open. [Read more]

The three schools involved with the veski inspiring students (& teachers) program have now completed the refurbishments of their science facilities. veski was at the unveiling of the new labs throughout the year. [See Neerim District, Mooroopna & Kyneton]

Teachers from the three schools involved in the inspiring students (& teachers) program and others from surrounding schools have participated in a series of professional development activities. [Read more]

As part of veski’s inspiring students (& teachers) program, Mooroopna, Kyneton and Neerim District have all hosted visits from the Bug Blitz’ The Big Dig Program throughout 2014 with ‘hands on’ learning about biology and biodiversity.  [Read more about the Big Dig at KynetonMooroopna & Neerim District]

veski will be planning a program of inspiring activities for 2015. Highlights include:
  • Neerim District, Kyneton and Mooroopna Secondary Colleges will gather in Melbourne city to share their Big Dig experiences late in February 2015
  • Graeme Clark students activity,
    Oration & Oration Dinner with President of the Royal Society, Sir Paul Nurse on Tuesday, 10 March 2015
  • The BioEYES Program will revisit Neerim District, Kyneton and Mooroopna Secondary Colleges in July and September 2015
