A SEASON TO BELIEVE ...
and a year ahead to embrace.

Believe ...

Recently released from prison with just the clothes on her back, Nicole visited A New Way of Life yesterday, seeking help, guidance and re-entry support.  Just before she left, she was asked if there was anything else she needed, something to eat, water?  Nicole replied softly, "No, I'm just good sitting right here.  I'm just glad to be home."  Then she added, "I wish I had a change of clothes, though."

As A New Way of Life staff person, Meisee McGowan witnessed, "I kid you not, UPS came into the office with a delivery that I wasn't aware was coming.  I opened it up and there was a purse and wallet and jewelry box.  The wallet said, 'Be still, and know that I am God.'  Underneath the purse and things was an entire box of donated clothing!  I feel like crying and shouting ya'll!"

This is the power when we Believe ...

On Sunday we gathered, broke bread and recommitted to the mission ahead at the 16th Annual Gala & Awards.  So many of you brought the love, spirit and generosity.  We thank you all for giving and believing.  If you are ready to have your heart warmed, watch this brief footage from Sunday HERE.

Of course, in this belief we must remain diligent.  Despite monumental shifts, such as passage of the Safe Neighborhoods and Schools Act, certain events in 2014 are reminders of the entrenched and prevailing attitudes that still present formidable barriers to reform.

For all of the partners, sponsors, donors, volunteers and, of course, the women in our re-entry homes, we stand united and strong.  Now is the time to take on the challenges, advance the momentum and invest in the movement.

We have ambitious plans for 2015, a year that will prove to be pivotal in the criminal justice reform movement.  From direct services in our re-entry homes and distribution center, to the work in our legal clinics, implementation of Prop 47 and Banning the Box city by city, county by county, our work is gearing up.

We need you now more than ever.  Please consider investment in the movement.  Your year-end gift can impact in very, very surprising ways.  Just ask Nicole ...and

Believe,
