The Excitement is Building!

Check out the December happenings at Park Church.

It's down to the final few projects at 31 Park, and final inspection is expected sometime in the middle of next week. If all goes well, we will be gathering and worshipping together at the new building beginning the following week! Stay tuned for last minute notices or schedule changes between now and next weekend, as we await the go ahead from the building inspector.

There are many opportunities to celebrate and serve this month. As we hold an Evensong Christmas Celebration, a Christmas Eve service, and two Sunday services (for the first time!), we will be a church that is ready to welcome even more of our friends and neighbors into the joy of following Christ. It's going to take all of us working together in a new way, but there is no better work in the world! Merry Christmas!

Christmas Eve Service!

December 24, 4:00 at Two River Theater in Red Bank (21 Bridge Ave.). Our biggest celebration of the year: bring your family and friends to this inviting and inspiring service.  Love to bake (or purchase) Christmas cookies? Contact our Hospitality coordinator Sharon Newberry if you would like to supply some holiday refreshments for our reception time.

Work Day: 31 Park Needs You!

All hands on deck! Saturday, December 13, from 8:30AM to 4:30PM at 31 Park. There is a lot to do, and we are going to need as many volunteers as we can get to pitch in for 2 or more hours. If you are handy, bring some basic tools. If you like to paint, put on your painting clothes. If you have no skill at all, we still need you. Projects include setting up chairs, assembling furniture, decorating classrooms, setting up the café, installing reclaimed wood, unpacking boxes, cleaning toys, putting up signs, and the list goes on. Bring a brown bag lunch if you plan to stay for a few hours. Contact Carol Lang with any questions.

EVENSONG: Christmas Celebration

Friday, December 12, 7:00 at Monmouth Church of Christ (312 Hance Ave. Tinton Falls). Gather for beautiful time of songs, readings and prayers to focus our hearts on the miracle of Christmas.  Children are welcome!

A Season to Serve

Inspire Monmouth County by joining together with our Mercy Ministry in serving our neighbors in need.
  • Gently used or new coats dropped off at the office or at Sunday services will be donated to the Lunch Break coat drive.
  • Connect Shopping provides you with an opportunity to select the name of a local family or individual sponsored by Love INC, and purchase a needed item or two for Christmas.
Visit the Mercy Ministry table with the little white Christmas tree any Sunday from now through December 14.

2014 GIVING REPORT

We are pleased to report that we are on track to meet our budget for 2014! If December end of year giving is strong, we can do it. Meeting General Fund budget for 2014 would be a significant milestone, as we move into a major expansion of both our ministry impact and our budgeted expenses in 2015. Let's go into the New Year healthy and strong, and ready for the exciting opportunities ahead.

FIRST SCHEDULED MORNING SERVICES AT 31 PARK: DECEMBER 21!

Inspection and town approval permitting, on December 21, our new Sunday worship schedule will consist of two Sunday morning services at 9:15AM and 11:15AM, with a refreshment time in between services, from 10:30 to 11:15AM. You will hear more about it between now and then, so make sure to check your email and social media!

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE:

  • Moving!  If you would like to lend a hand packing or moving anytime from now through December 21, please contact Chris West as soon as possible. He will be coordinating several opportunities to help out. Trucks and minivans are also a plus!
  • Decorating for Christmas.  Our first-ever Christmas decorating committee is forming to decorate 31 Park for the holiday. Email Amanda Quinn if you would like to help put up decorations.  If you are the crafty type, or would like to donate supplies for making the decorations, contact Caitlin Fredericks. Needed supplies include: white Christmas lights, faux boxwood garland, artificial berries (garland, bunches, or small branches), burlap, burlap ribbon, pine cones, wreath frames, twine and green paddle wire. Bring supplies to church this Sunday, or contact Caitlin as soon as possible.
  • Christmas Eve Service Child Care. Help us welcome families with young children attending our Christmas Eve service. Please contact Michelle Andrews if you can care for children 3 and under during either service.
  • Parking Team.  With a whole new set of parking lots to navigate at the new facility, it will be important for us to create a sense of welcome and direction outside of the building. Contact Andy Newberry to get involved.
