Lesson 540: Secure by Faith, Pt.1
Jesus had God’s protection, but it was invisible. This is part of what prepared Jesus to be king.
Israel’s king was not allowed to build an army of horses. Deut.17:15-16 The world needs to see that his power and protection is by the Spirit of God, not by worldly symbols of strength.
Zech.4:6 Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, says the Lord of hosts.
2 Kings 6:15-17 an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, “Alas, my master! What shall we do?” He said, “Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
Then Elisha prayed and said, “O Lord, please open his eyes that he may see.” So the Lord opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
1 John 4:4 Little children, you are from God and have overcome them, for he who is in you (the Holy Spirit) is greater than he who is in the world (Satan).
Jesus was secure because He trusted in God, who is greater than all other powers. The same God protects and secures all His children today and forever; He never changes.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
