In 2013, Cycle of Giving provided over 300 kids with their very own bicycles.  Help make 2014 even more memorable.

Cycle of Giving brings volunteer mechanics together to build bicycles for Winnipeg's children in need in time for Christmas.  From 12 pm, December 6th to 12 pm, December 7th the Orioles Community Centre @ 448 Burnell St. will be transformed into a magic workshop where salvaged and donated used bicycles are turned into holiday dreams come true.

Volunteers are needed on a continual basis as mechanics, bike cleaners, making cards and crafts, preparing food or just general helping out.

For more information, or to donate just show up at Orioles Community Centre, or visit The WRENCH online.

Active After School

Recreation Connections Manitoba and Active & Safe Routes to School are offering grants of $500 to roll out an active transportation initiative in the after school time period.  Contact us for more information - you have to act fast! Application deadline is January 16, 2015.
Cycle into spring as we plan to celebrate Bike to School Month, May 4 - June 3 with a wrap up at our annual Clean Air Day event! Schools and students around Manitoba invited to enter our poster contest to develop the feature artwork for our promotional poster.
The #HOMETOWNPROUD campaign is a national conversation coordinated by the Federation of Canadian Municipalities about the importance of communities.  What changes do you want to see in your neck of the woods?  We'd like funding at a national level for active school travel
Regular physical activity can help kids do better in school. According to a recent study published in the Journal of School Health, 12-year-olds who performed an extra two hours of physical activity per week saw a dramatic spike in their grades.  That's the power of walking to school.
