Lesson 339: Flee Temptations
God graciously provides our feet for escaping temptation.
When resisting is not enough to escape temptation, sometimes God will say, “Don’t just stand there, run!” The Bible warns us to flee temptations.
1 Cor.6:18 Flee from sexual immorality
1 Cor.10:14 flee from idolatry
1 Tim.6:11 as for you, O man of God, flee these things (pride, quarrels, envy, love of money). Pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, steadfastness, gentleness.
2 Tim.2:22 flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart.
Joseph fled when Potiphar’s wife tried to seduce him.
Gen.39:12 Joseph left his garment in her hand and fled.
Be willing to run from what you know will tempt you, even if it seems innocent to others.
If someone is tempted by alcohol because their commute takes them past a bar, they should avoid that street.
Others might walk past the same bar and never enter. But the bar is out-of-bounds for the one who is tempted, regardless of how it impacts others.

- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
