Lesson 327: The Change I Need Most
God’s grace is transforming every Christian each moment. We don’t like change. We’re comfortable with our routine. Each of us has a schedule that works for us.
Change really throws us off balance. What happens when someone comes along and wants us to do something different? Growing in holiness means that God is changing us to be more like Jesus.
Sometimes He uses our neighbors to do it. Your heart, mind, spirit and will are either moving you toward God or away, all the time. And you are always moving toward or away from others.
What are the key ingredients for change and growth in a Christian’s life? Maybe doing your devotions? Bible study? Prayer? Going to church? Doing ministry? Being faithful to attend your small group?
God calls us to do all these things; they are good & helpful. But if these things could change us, Jesus would not have needed to come.
The Christian life includes all these things, but there is something much bigger. The change I need most in my life isn’t my situation or my relationships. It’s me. God is rescuing me from myself.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
