See you in the fall!

I head offline later this week for the rest of August, with visions of leisurely lunches on the vineyards of the North Fork of Long Island, though in reality I'll be chasing after my two-year-old twins.

Nonetheless, I'll return refreshed and ready to connect with you in the fall. I hope you can join me at the 92nd Street Y on September 23rd, where I'll give a lunchtime talk moderated by strategy+business editor Art Kleiner.

I'll zigzag the country (with one trip to Denmark) for the rest of the year; I'm keeping my schedule up-to-date on my website. Will I see you? If not, where will you be?

Read

On Harvard Business Review, I weighed in on the National Labor Relations Board ruling that McDonald's has responsibility for the labor practices of its franchisees; and on The Guardian I argued that President Obama's executive order requiring companies seeking federal contracts to disclose past labor violations is a good thing.

The Financial Times ran a special section on careers in energy, including an interview with me (which was a bit more blunt about the Browne-Hayward transition at BP than I have been to date).

Listen

I had a great conversation with Boise State University President Bob Kustra for the NPR program Reader’s Corner.

Engage

I've been going into companies and strategizing with fellow Corporate Idealists, giving book talks open to all staff, and presenting to senior executives. I've also been meeting with NGOs to think through their private sector engagement. Can I be of help to your organization?

As always, I'd love to hear what's on your mind. Please hit 'reply' at any time with your thoughts and join me on Twitter and Facebook.
