Meet the Teacher Night
- Find out who your child's teacher will be on Thursday, Aug. 21. Pre-K and Kinder students will be from 3:30 - 6 p.m. Grades 1-5 will be 4-6 p.m.

- Bring your school supplies to the classroom! The cafeteria will have stations for you to purchase T-shirts, PTA membership, Summitt logo items, assignment books, headphones and Library birthday book club membership. 

- Volunteer to help during Meet the Teacher night. You can volunteer and still be able to meet your child's teacher. Pick and shift and help make this event go

- Because there will be volunteers setting up and teachers will be getting their classrooms ready, please do not arrive before your designated time.   


First day of school news
- There will be no Morning Assembly on the first day of school. Please report to your child's classroom. Morning assembly will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 26 at 7:30 a.m.

- For Pre-K and Kinder parents, there will be a Woo Hoo, Boo Hoo breakfast in the library. Please come by after you drop off your child and get to know more about Summitt.   



Office volunteer needed
The front office needs a volunteer to answer the telephone for about 1 hour per week during the staff meeting. Please contact the office 512-414-4484 for more information.  


Fish tank volunteer needed
We are looking for a volunteer to maintain the fish tank in the Great Hall. Please contact the office 512-444-4484 for more information.

Fall Fest news
Fall Fest 2014 planning is in full swing!! If you have some free time to volunteer this Fall, please contact
fallfest.oct25@gmail.com. We are currently seeking a couple of people to head up our haunted house and our food court. Save up your gently used toys and books for our prize booth and bring to the designated area in the Great Hall once school begins.
Manos de Cristo: Preparing Low-Income Children for School 
Pre-K through 5th grade, get ready for school at its annual Back-to-School Program. The program prepares low-income students for the school year by providing each child with two free sets of new clothing, socks, underwear, and a brand new backpack filled with school supplies.
*WHEN*: August 11 - 15; 8 a.m. to noon each weekday
*WHERE*: * North Austin Events Center * located at 10601 North Lamar Blvd. , Austin , TX 78753
*WHAT*: Families in need begin lining up as early as 2 a.m. for the first come, first served back to school clothing and supplies. 



Back to School Bash
On Saturday, Aug. 16, Austin ISD will host the ninth annual Back to School Bash Celebration and Safety Fair from 9 a.m.–noon at the Austin Convention Center. There will be free immunizations and free backpacks/school supplies. More than 100 community and district organizations will offer exhibits for AISD families to learn more about the services and programs that can help students enjoy a safe and successful school year. There are also door prizes and more! Free shuttles leave every 30-45 minutes beginning at 7:30 a.m from Bedichek MS, Covington MS, Guerrero ES, Lanier HS, Martin MS, Menndez MS, Reagan HS, and One Texas Center. For more information, click here


Whole Foods School Supply Drive
Whole Foods Market  is currently hosting a school supply drive to benefit Summitt, Pillow and Padron elementary schools. The supply drive will be held throughout the month of August. Bring school supplies donations to 11920 Domain Drive, 78758.

 

Murchison News
Matador Days are Aug. 19-21, beginning with the 8th graders on the 19th, 7th graders on the 20th, and 6th graders on the 21st. Students will get their schedules, textbooks, and can buy agendas and t-shirts. Hours available to attend are 8:30am-10am or 5:30pm-7pm. Pick a time and stop by the cafeteria! Please register your student online beforehand and bring your printout of completed registration to get your schedule. Note: A snapcode will be required in order to access the Returning Student Registration form. Snapcodes were sent to the email address on file for the 'resides with' contact for each returning student. Parents/Guardians listed as the 'resides with' contact, with an existing Parent Cloud account, can also find the student registration links in the Parent Cloud. Contact the AISD Parent Support Help Line at (512) 414-9187 for assistance with snapcode retrieval.  


 
AISD updated calendar
Austin ISD has the latest version of the school calendar. The new one is here. It may be different from the one sent out before school ended. Please note date changes to the Winter Break schedule.
