Developing Engaged & Energized Nonprofit Boards

Nonprofit Education & Training (NET) Workshop September 17th

Workshop Overview:
We all want to leave a lasting legacy. During this two-hour workshop, attendees will discover how they can have a greater impact as leaders of a nonprofit organization; either as paid staff members or as board volunteers. We will explore ways to keep the Board from micromanaging the organization and the effective interaction between staff members and the Board of Directors. Finally, we will review the importance of good Board leadership, recruitment, orientation and annual reports.

Presented By:

The Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation is delighted to welcome WVU Associate Professor Norm Schwertfeger as our workshop leader.  Norm has a Masters Degree in Public Administration from West Virginia University, has served as a County Commissioner in Brooke County for 18 years, is Co-Chairman of the WVU Extension Leadership Team, and has conducted Community Board Trainings and Board Facilitation throughout West Virginia for a number of organizations.  Norm has served on over 40 Community Boards and Committees throughout WV and the Ohio Valley including President of the WV Association of County Commissioners, Chairman of a Regional Metropolitan Planning Commission and Chairman of the County Senior Center.
