  • Prayer
  • Faith
  • Religion
Each week we will let Jesus define a different piece of life for us!

This will be week 3 of an intensive 6 message series from
The Sermon on the Mount (Matthew chapters 5-7)

August 17 – Guest Missionary Speaker: Phil Boardman!

August 24 – Where's Your Faith? (6: 19-34)

August 31 - False Religion Exposed! (7: 13-29)

Last Sunday...

Last Sunday our topic was: What Makes Prayer Work? Pastor Chris took us through six principles that help bring power and purpose to our prayers. At the end of the message we talked about the simple issue of faith. Do we really believe? As the band played and the service drew to a conclusion several people came to the altar to pray and many people came forward to drop personal prayer requests in baskets on the middle of the altar. God moved amazingly!

Tuesday morning, during their team meeting, the pastors took all of the prayers, read through and prayed for them. This was a very serious time for your pastoral team. They were humbled and overwhelmed as they read through each request. The requests were transparent and genuine. Many are hurting, fight diseases and disorders, and burdened for families. There were also many people who stressed a deep desire to know God in more personal and powerful way. The pastors will continue to pray for these requests for several weeks. PLEASE report to the pastors as God brings miracles and victories. We want to celebrate with you!!

Each week you will find a connection card attached to your Sunday bulletin. On that card you will see a space for prayer requests. Any prayer request given to the pastors will be taken to God in prayer during their team meetings. Let’s learn about prayer and take advantage of this great privilege. God still answers prayer!

“The one concern of the devil is to keep Christians from praying. He fears nothing from prayerless studies, prayerless work and prayerless religion. He laughs at our toil, mocks at our wisdom, but he trembles when we pray.”
Samuel Chadwick

"The power of prayer has never been tried to its full capacity in any church. If we want to see mighty wonders of divine grace and power wrought in the place of weakness, failure and disappointment, let the whole Church answer God's standing challenge; "Call unto me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know."

EDUCATION AT
COMMUNITY CHURCH

(A Note from Pastor Chris)

Education…. This is a huge word that sends negative vibes to many people. However, the Christian Church in America needs to engage in serious educational efforts. By and large, professing Christians in America have become biblically illiterate and severely lack understanding of biblical principles for life and eternity. Most Christians do not know what they believe, why they believe what they believe and how those things relate to everyday life and faith. Christians have become perfect targets for the devil’s schemes and deception. If he can deceive and disarm professing Christians, he can inflict massive damage. Unfortunately, this is exactly what has happened in the U.S. The educational arm of the church used to be the Sunday School but for many years the Sunday School has been dying. Most churches no longer have a Sunday School as we once knew it. Some churches have sought for new avenues to make disciples and some have totally neglected the issue.

As most of you know, I am all about education and I believe that Community Church should be, too. Christians are being educated through secular organizations, institutions and liberal media outlets rather than the church. This has caused moral collapse, family demise and religious confusion. Let’s change this! Community Church can become a place where Christians can grow and become strong members of the body of Christ. Through real discipleship Christians can and will make a real difference in our world!

Very soon, we will come to you with a comprehensive plan for something we call CORE. Look for announcements, brochures and special information about this new educational initiative! CORE will include several adult study groups, youth ministries, and something for the children, too. We will still have our café (but expanded). Rich fellowship will also be a goal for Wednesday nights.  For more information about CORE, please contact Pastor Lisa (Point Pastor), Marcee Richardson (Program Director) or Pastor Chris (just someone else who knows a little bit about what’s going on!).

With great excitement for the future!
Pastor Chris

A Powerful Quote
(found on the wall at Flip Side Restaurant at Easton Town Center)

“The only thing in the world that is constant is change. The trick is to get excited about what can happen.”

Welcome the Boardmans!

Phil's call to missions was gradual, but very clear. With each mission trip and step of faith, he felt a stronger and stronger call to return to the Czech Republic for longer periods of service. After serving two years as a GO-Net missionary with Global Partners, Phil returned to ministry in the Czech Republic as a long-term missionary.

God began to call Kristy (Baysinger) to overseas missions through a series of events, people, and circumstances. As a result, she served as a GO-Net missionary in the Czech Republic for three years. She fell in love with the people, and it excited her to share Christ and her life with them.

Global Partners has appointed Phil and Kristy to return to the Czech Republic as long-term missionaries. Together they desire to be a light in a darkened city through teaching English. Their vision is to see the Majak Ministry Center and Brno become places where Czech Christians are reaching out to nonbelievers.

First Thessalonians 2:8 is special to Phil and Kristy because the Czech people have become so dear to them, and they want to share their lives with them. "We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us" (NIV).

Sound Improvement in the Auditorium has Begun!

Your financial contributions have been put to use as you will see this Sunday! Our new sound “traps” have been installed on the back wall of the auditorium. This is just our first major step for improving the acoustics in our worship area. There are several other things to be done and little by little more improvements will take place. Special thanks to all who have contributed to this project and to those who worked to build the traps and install them. Special thanks to Pastor Zack who is leading this project and to his dad, Kent, who has donated his excellent skills!

Are You New to Community?

There are always new attendees here at Community! If you are one of them we want you to know that we are very happy you have decided to worship with us! We encourage you to please introduce yourself to Pastor Chris if you have not done so. He would love to meet you and become acquainted. Also, make sure to contact him or one of the pastors if you have questions or need information. Welcome to Community!

Encourage Our Missionaries

In the hallway outside of Faith Hall you will find a bulletin board that provides information about the missionaries we support here at Community Church. Please take time to go to Wesleyan.org and find the Global Partners link. You will find many of our missionaries listed there. Make the effort to find their contact information and send them an email or text to share your appreciation for their hard work in God’s Kingdom.

Community Cafe

This is just a note to thank everyone for their food and monetary donations that help “stock” our café supplies each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Although our café is always free to everyone, every little donation is helpful. If you would like to provide donations or help our café ministry in any way, you should connect with Renee Dyer. Watch for more cool changes in our café this fall!

Our Student Ministries Wing...

is a secure area on Sunday mornings. Our sole objective is to protect our children and to make sure their parents are confident that they are safe from any potential harm. All across our nation there have been terrible incidents which could have been avoided if children were not put at risk.  Please be understanding of our new security measures and help us care for the children that God has placed in our care.
