Wednesdays @ Covenant

Wednesday night activities resume September 3, and we have a new format and three new studies to choose from. These studies will be offered as five-week sessions twice this fall. So you can choose one to attend for the first five-week session and another to attend for the second.
Parenting | Dan Edwards. Dan will be teaching from Proverbs, and sharing "What Does Proverbs Say About Parenting?"
Theology of Worship | Danny Giffen. Danny will be teaching on areas such as liturgy, the church calendar, music, and the sacraments. This study will focus on "why we do what we do."
Contemporary Culture | Jason Peevy & Dave Driskill. Jason and Dave will be exploring topics such as politics, film and literature, current events, etc.

The Hymn Collective

You're invited to The Hymn Collective showcase at Red Mountain Church this Friday evening at 7:00 p.m. This Birmingham-based hymn writers project includes Red Mountain's Jeff Koonce, Ashley Self, and Covenant's own Rick Barnes. The showcase will feature a live performance of the group's latest selections of old hymns set to new music. For more information on the project, visit The Hymn Collective website, hymncollective.org

Covenant Choir Kickoff

Have you ever thought about joining the Covenant choir? If so, please come to our kickoff social August 22 at 7:00 p.m. at the home of Rick & Stacy Barnes (5074 Applecross Rd, 35242). You’ll get to know our choir members, ask questions, and eat some great food! RSVP to Stacy (stacybbarnes@hotmail.com) by Friday August 15.

Covenant Yard Sale

On Saturday, September 13 the Community Life Committee
will host a church-wide yard sale from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 noon. Start your fall cleaning early, and set aside all usable items you would like to donate! We are accepting clothing, toys, art, small and large appliances, furniture, and miscellaneous household items. Please contact Kathryn Tortorici to arrange pick up of large items (529-3151, tortoricikathryn@gmail.com). We will take donations Sunday, September 7 through Friday, September 13. Proceeds will be used to offset the cost of Covenant Camp in October. Please contact Victoria Williams if you have any questions (871-7002, vwilliams@covpres.com).

Overflow Parking

The Armory across the street from Covenant is increasing security measures, and as a result, we will no longer be allowed to park on their property. We can continue to park along the road, but we are not allowed to park in the Armory parking lots or in the grassy areas near their facilities. These rules apply during the week and on Sundays. Thank you for your cooperation with these changes and for helping us be considerate neighbors.

Children's Ministry Volunteers

The school year is fast approaching, and our Children's Ministry is gearing up for a fantastic year of Children's Worship and Sunday School. As we make preparations, we ask that you prayerfully consider teaching this year. You can sign up now for the 1st-3rd grade classes for the fall quarter, which is our most pressing need. If you have any questions please contact Deanna Misner, Director of Elementary Ministries, at 423-316-5656 or deannamisner@gmail.com.

Children's Choirs

Our Children's Choirs start back up on Wednesday, September 3 from 6:00-6:30 p.m. The rising 3-5K will meet in room C221 with director Katie Flores. The rising 1st-6th graders will meet in C316 with directors Mary Wilson and Casey O'Dell. Each choir needs a few parent and/or other church member volunteers (no musical experience needed)! Both groups will sing during the Chancel Choir Christmas concert on December 14. If you have any questions or would like to volunteer, please email Casey O'Dell at caseys.odell@gmail.com.
