The National Bar Association renews its call for the Justice Department to conduct a fair and impartial investigation into deaths involving police in St. Louis, Missouri; Staten island, New York; Dallas, Texas; San Antonio, Texas; and Beavercreek, Ohio.
On Tuesday, August 12, 2014, the National Bar Association filed a Sunshine Act request with the city of Ferguson, Missouri Police Department. The goal is to bring transparency and to restore integrity in the investigation process.
"We believe, for the sake of transparency and for the sake of bringing calmness to the community, it is imperative that they release the names (of the police officers involved), " said Pamela J. Meanes, the associations president. "I think a lot of the frustration and a lot of the disruption is because people don't trust the process."
