It is the best of times.

Pause • Plan • Do

This time, like all times, is a very good one,
if we but know what to do with it.

Ralph Waldo Emerson

And … we’re back. Welcome to Monday.

What’s on your plate this week? What can you do to make it a good one?

In our usual weekly rhythm, it’s time to pause for just long enough to get your head around how you want this week to unfold. What will you do with the week that is front you?

Block 30 minutes on your calendar and go to a quiet place.

What: Take an inventory of what you need to accomplish this week. Be realistic — but also be ambitious. What would you like to accomplish by the end of the week?

Who: Next, think about the people in your life? Who needs your full attention this week? What can you do to give them your best work?

You: Finally, what new things could you do this week to take your life in the direction you want it to go? What are you working on professionally? How about life in general — what are you working on in life? How can you develop yourself this week?

Join the Club!

Our next book club is forming. We are reading Thinking, Fast and Slow by Daniel Kahneman. Tom Peters believes this is one of the most important books in the last 25 years. See the post on the blog for full details.

How to Participate

  1. Buy the book.
  2. Join the LinkedIn group where we’ll be holding our online discussions.
  3. Download the Reading Schedule.
  4. Start reading along with us the week of September 01.

Each day — and each week — is another chance to do something remarkable. As Emerson said, this week is a very good one, if you but know what to do with it. What will it be for you?

Drop me a note and fill me in on what you are working on. Let me know how else I might be helpful.

I wish you success.
