Lesson 360: At God's Right Hand, Pt.2
Heb.10:12 when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God.
Heb.12:2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
1 Pet.3:22 Jesus has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, with angels, authorities, and powers having been subjected to him.
Lawlessness says: Since God accepts me and forgave me, it doesn’t matter how I live.
Paul says the opposite: because of our union with Christ, we want to walk His way.
In the next 5 verses in Colossians, Paul essentially repeats the 10 Commandments. Exo.20:3-17
Col.3:5-9 Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. On account of these the wrath of God is coming. In these you too once walked, when you were living in them.
But now you must put them all away: anger, wrath, malice, slander, and obscene talk from your mouth. Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
