We invite you to come and create Poppies for the Poppy Project!
Tuesday 9 September, 10am-3pm at Armadale Library
Between 2014 and 2018 Australia will commemorate the Anzac Centenary. As part of the Anzac Commemoration, there are several poppy projects underway. People from all over Australia are making knitted, crocheted and felt poppies.
The Returned and Services League WA Branch saw an opportunity to bring the projects together so that all poppies from WA go to Albany for the Centenary in November 2014. These poppies will be displayed in the CBD and later be taken to the City of Wanneroo’s Art Gallery for display on Remembrance Day 2014. They will then go to Melbourne’s Federation Square for display on ANZAC Day 2015 and will be returned to Perth for display during Remembrance Day 2015. Following that project, it is planned that artists will be invited to make an artwork from the poppies for an exhibition.
Refreshments, patterns and materials will be provided.
