Barn Cat Relocation Program...

CatSpan is proud to celebrate the one year anniversary of our Barn Cat Relocation Program!

CatSpan still needs rural properties (farms, barns or shelters) in Oceanside for our Barn Cat Relocation Program.  All cats are vet checked prior to relocation.  CatSpan will provide the caretakers with support, equipment and food during the transition period of three to four weeks.  Barn cats live healthy, natural lives content in their new outdoor home with food and shelter.

August 2014 Trapping Report

Total Number of Spays and Neuters: 13
Number of Cats admitted to the Barn Cat Relocation Program: 4
Total Number of New Barns in the Barn Cat Relocation Program: 2

In August, 10 feral cats were released back to where they were trapped following spay/neuter, six cats found new accomodations in our Barn Cat Relocation Program, two non-feral cats were adopted, and one more cat is currently in foster home.

It was a busy month!  Thank you to all the hard-working volunteers and dedicated Veterinary Hospitals.
CatSpan in the Community...
A big CatSpan thank you to everyone who helped with and donated to the CatSpan Food Drive that was held on August 16, 2014!  A total of 472 lbs of dry cat food and 120 tins of wet cat food were donated.  A special thanks to Thrifty's Foods for hosting us, and to Bosley's in Parksville for promoting our food drive with some grrrr-eat sales on cat food.
On July 27, 2014 CatSpan held its first Trap-Neuter-Release Workshop in Parksville with 17 new and experienced trappers in attendance.

CatSpan's Adoptables...
Garfunkel was found near the Alberni Highway in Parksville earlier this month.  He was found with three siblings - two males and a female.  Garfunkel is currently at Bosley's in Parksville for adoption.

Garfunkel's two brothers and a sister are still in their foster homes.
Vinny was found near Greig Road in Parksville earlier this month.  He was found with one sibling who, unfortunately, didn't survive.

Vinny is currently at Bosley's in Parksville waiting to meet his fur-ever family.
Grant is a 2 year old neutered male cat who needs a new home. He is part Maine Coon and is an indoor/outdoor cat.  Grant is described as gentle and loving.  If you are interested in adopting Grant, please contact Janice at 250-716-1616.

CatSpan was at the Parksville Museum Farmers Market at Craig Heritage Park on August 29, 2014 for their weekly farmers market.  It was a great venue and we look forward to doing it all again on September 19th!

CatSpan will be holding our very first online auction on Facebook late in September!  The first item on the auction block is a hand-made wool cat cave (not the one pictured, but a similar one).  The cat cave that will be used was made and generously donated by one our volunteers.  Check out our Facebook page for more details.
A big thank you to Qualicum Cat Rescue who donated a whole skid of dry cat food to CatSpan!
A huge CatSpan thank you goes out to Bosleys in Parksville for hosting a CatSpan table in their tent at the Craig Street Market this summer.
