August 2014

Message from the President, Darren Hall

Dear <<First Name>>,
It is certainly the business end of the season now and the feeling around the club is one of great excitement. All three football teams are currently in the six for the first time this year, with all three coming off great wins against Echuca last week. It is going to be tough over in Rochester this weekend but the boys know we have to keep winning to play a part in September. The battle for a spot in the final six may even come down to a last round battle against our old foe, Shepparton United.

In some great news for the whole club, Daniel Lewis has again committed for season 2015. His presence around the club for the last couple of years, both on and off the field, has been great for us. On the back of Lewie's signing, we will be looking to announce some other key signings over the next few weeks.

Although our netballers haven't had the wins they have trained and played so hard for, there is still a great feeling amongst the girls. The Under 17's still have a hope of making finals and there is plenty of planning underway already for season 2015 as well.

This Saturday night, the 9th of August, we are holding a music/movie/tv show/sports trivia night at the Sir Ian McLennan Centre, commencing at 7.30pm. The cost is only $10 per person which includes a light supper and the chance to win some great prizes. Get a table of 10 together including some mates from outside the MFNC and let's have a great night. Click on the link in the story below for all of the information.

We hosted our annual sponsor's day last Saturday at the game against Echuca. Our MC Paul Brown had our sponsors and special guests in stitches throughout the day. We went for a different approach this year by holding it upstairs in the Parson's Pavilion with typical footy food on offer. Some fantastic footage of Mooroopna vs Lemnos from about 50 years ago was also shown on the big screen, with Browny interviewing two of the stars of that game, Mooroopna's Barry Kilpatrick and Lemnos' Geoff Wilson. Many thanks to 'Killer' and Geoff for attending. Also many thanks to Browny for doing another great job.
