August 2014

Welcome

Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA) is pleased to share its inaugural email newsletter (eNewsletter) with you - our friends, partners, and fellow Contra Costa residents. While we've been hard at work delivering transportation improvements for over 25 years, we are excited to launch new tools to help us directly engage with the public. Our new email communication platform will allow us to share updates on the diverse work we undertake on behalf of Contra Costa taxpayers, as well as to keep you informed of opportunities to voice your opinion about transportation priorities and projects that are important to you.

We hope that you find the following information informative - and use this new line of communication to engage with us regarding the exciting planning and project delivery efforts happening in your backyard.

As always, thanks for your support and interest in
 CCTA.

- Randy Iwasaki, Executive Director

CCTA's eNewsletter strives to keep the public informed of key milestones and opportunities for public engagement related to the agency's work. If you have any comments or suggestions related to its contents, please share your thoughts with Linsey Willis, CCTA Director of External Affairs, at lwillis@ccta.net

Talking Transportation

What’s your transportation vision for Contra Costa? What programs should we invest in? Should we extend BART, put more buses on the road, fix local streets, create more bike lanes, make our streets more pedestrian friendly, or improve our highways? All these questions and more are part of a new outreach effort we are kicking off for the Countywide Transportation Plan (CTP) update - and we want to hear your ideas to keep Contra Costa moving.

The Countywide Transportation Plan is a planning effort conducted in collaboration with Contra Costa municipalities and local agencies, and with input from the public. The CTP outlines our collective, 25-year vision for transportation in Contra Costa, and it establishes goals, strategies, projects, and other actions that will help make that vision a reality.

As part of the CTP process, CCTA wants to know what transportation issues you think are important so we can prioritize where to spend valuable time and resources. This is your chance to share your ideas for new transportation projects and programs in Contra Costa.

Past CTP planning efforts have produced ideas such as the Caldecott Tunnel Fourth Bore, Highway 4 widening, and BART system extensions. We'd love to hear your ideas on the next big investments we might make - but also how we might better maintain local streets, reduce traffic congestion, and make Contra Costa safer for bicyclists and pedestrians.

There are several ways you can participate:
  • Attend a public workshop to hear more about the CTP process and give your feedback. (Dates and times to be announced soon!)
  • Check out CCTA’s online public engagement tool at www.KeepContraCostaMoving.net to tell us your priorities, share your bright ideas, and see what other ideas your neighbors are talking about.
  • Call 925.256.4720 to request that a paper copy of CCTA’s online public engagement tool be mailed to you.
Your opinions and ideas will help shape Contra Costa County’s transportation planning for the next 25 years. Don’t miss this opportunity to participate!
