Last Sunday...

Extreme Righteousness was a tough topic but well received by the congregation as we considered what it means to live in a right relationship with God and to follow His will and expectations for our lives. We were very challenged by Jesus’ words while being encouraged to pursue the holy life we find as we draw close to the Father. The bottom line: God wants us to live victoriously over sin and to find the peace, freedom and power He provides as we live by His commands.

Many congregants have approached Pastor Chris and the Pastoral Team to express their desire to see true revival in the church. That can happen! It is happening! Last week we gave you 3 necessities for Revival. Revival will come:
  1. When we give God our genuine worship.
  2. When we allow God to move and have control.
  3. When we are obedient to God’s word and will.
Last Sunday, the staff laughed together as the morning developed. Almost everything that could have gone wrong did! A light even blew up during the worship service!! After an amazingly powerful service just a week ago, the devil wanted to make every effort to spoil the next Sunday. He is a revival spoiler! But we will not let him trip us up! Next Sunday we will continue our study of the Sermon on the Mount and our topic is: What Makes Prayer Work?  Come in faith and with expectation!

Welcome the Boardmans!

Phil's call to missions was gradual, but very clear. With each mission trip and step of faith, he felt a stronger and stronger call to return to the Czech Republic for longer periods of service. After serving two years as a GO-Net missionary with Global Partners, Phil returned to ministry in the Czech Republic as a long-term missionary.

God began to call Kristy (Baysinger) to overseas missions through a series of events, people, and circumstances. As a result, she served as a GO-Net missionary in the Czech Republic for three years. She fell in love with the people, and it excited her to share Christ and her life with them.

Global Partners has appointed Phil and Kristy to return to the Czech Republic as long-term missionaries. Together they desire to be a light in a darkened city through teaching English. Their vision is to see the Majak Ministry Center and Brno become places where Czech Christians are reaching out to nonbelievers.

First Thessalonians 2:8 is special to Phil and Kristy because the Czech people have become so dear to them, and they want to share their lives with them. "We loved you so much that we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well, because you had become so dear to us" (NIV).

Serve at the Salvation Army

Wednesdays this summer we are packing lunches at the Salvation Army!  We need your help and this is a great opportunity for us to serve our community.  If you can't serve on Wednesday's, they can use your help on other days as well.  We will meet there at 8:00 am!

We Did It!

Over the last few weeks we asked you to contribute monies to help us improve the sound quality in our main auditorium. Our plan is to cover the yellow fiberglass panels along the rails of the second floor and to build sound absorption “boxes” for the bottom floor walls. We asked for $1,200 to make this happen. The money has been received!!! You have given the amount needed!!! The boxes are constructed and the materials purchased for the project! Soon you will see the results of your contributions. Thanks so much for your faithful giving!!

Are You New to Community?

There are always new attendees here at Community! If you are one of them we want you to know that we are very happy you have decided to worship with us! We encourage you to please introduce yourself to Pastor Chris if you have not done so. He would love to meet you and become acquainted. Also, make sure to contact him or one of the pastors if you have questions or need information. Welcome to Community!

Wednesday Evening Study Opportunity & Future Plans

Wednesday evenings provide an important opportunity for worship, fellowship and spiritual growth here at Community. Currently, Pastor Chris is sharing from God’s word during our Wednesday night study times and we are studying the Book of James. Last Wednesday we were just studying the first few verses! You can jump in any time!

Our plan for the future is for Wednesday evenings to evolve into a night of discipleship for the entire church body! Wednesday evenings will soon be called CORE. This new educational effort will include several adult study groups, youth ministries, and something for the children, too. We will still have our café (but expanded). Rich fellowship will also be a goal Wednesday nights.  For more information about CORE, please contact Pastor Lisa (Point Pastor), Marcee Richardson (Program Director) or Pastor Chris (just someone else who knows a little bit about what’s going on!)

Have You Recently Become a Christian?

Many people have recently come to Christ for the first time or have rededicated their lives to Him. If you are one of those people, please share that with Pastor Chris or another staff member. We will not embarrass you in any way, but we want to celebrate with you, pray for you and support you.

Encourage Our Missionaries

In the hallway outside of Faith Hall you will find a bulletin board that provides information about the missionaries we support here at Community Church. Please take time to go to Wesleyan.org and find the Global Partners link. You will find many of our missionaries listed there. Make the effort to find their contact information and send them an email or text to share your appreciation for their hard work in God’s Kingdom.

Community Cafe

This is just a note to thank everyone for their food and monetary donations that help “stock” our café supplies each Sunday morning and Wednesday evening. Although our café is always free to everyone, every little donation is helpful. If you would like to provide donations or help our café ministry in any way, you should connect with Renee Dyer. Watch for more cool changes in our café this fall!

Our Student Ministries Wing...

is a secure area on Sunday mornings. Our sole objective is to protect our children and to make sure their parents are confident that they are safe from any potential harm. All across our nation there have been terrible incidents which could have been avoided if children were not put at risk.  Please be understanding of our new security measures and help us care for the children that God has placed in our care.
