Shelter News keeps you up-to-date with all of the current and upcoming happenings at the Denver Animal Shelter.
Denver Animal Shelter

In just the past month, Denver Animal Shelter has seen more than 50 cases of parvovirus in dogs coming into the shelter. Canine parvovirus (parvo) is a severely contagious, preventable virus that is often fatal in young dogs. To help prevent the spread of this deadly virus, we will be offering FREE parvo vaccinations for dogs under 1 year from August 3–9.

Adoption Successes

SUKI — “All of our pets, cats and dogs, have been shelter/rescue pets. We lost Chief, our other Boston Terrier, to old age at Christmas and were ready to adopt again… Suki has brought a breath of fresh air to our household… There is something in her facial expression that just makes you smile and melts your heart.” –Geraldine and Andrew, Suki’s new parents

MONA LISA — “When I looked at her, with her one ear up, and her one ear down (like they always are) I thought that she was perfect... This search was the first time I had tried to find a dog from a shelter. The hardest thing for me was to look at each animal in all the shelters I was in and NOT take them home. I think getting an animal from a shelter is a great idea, as it gives the animals a great chance to have a great home, and it gives them a second chance at life!” –Courtney, Mona Lisa’s new parents

Open your heart to help other homeless pets like Suki & Mona Lisa by giving generously today.

Your gift will help us find homes for special pets like these & will also help fund lifesaving programs at our shelters such as veterinary services, animal enrichment, & humane education / outreach.
