   Church Planting and Discipleship
August 1st was a red-letter day. I (Susan) was invited to speak at the retirement community in Kansas where my 90-year-old mother lives. As I pondered what to share with those precious elders, I was reminded that even when physical stamina declines and the body becomes weak and feeble, we can still bear fruit in old age (Ps.92:14).

Powerful prayers aren’t dependent on the vigor of youth or on the knowledge of the educated but rather, “The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much” (James 5:16).

And so we challenge you today with the same truth that Susan challenged those elderly saints: Finally, brothers and sisters, pray that we spread the Lord's word rapidly and that it will be honored the way it was among you. Also pray that we may be rescued from worthless and evil people, since not everyone shares our faith. (2Th 3:1, 2 GW)

Praise Reports:
  • Bearing Fruit: Within the past 2 days, we received news reports from 2 former church plants. In Cambrils, the city newspaper reported about their participation in a city-wide march of evangelicals under the theme: “Hay Solución” (There’s a Solution). In Montornés, they’re in the midst of blanketing the town with organized summer outreaches.
  • Army of Intercessors: those committing to pray for the Raval Initiative is increasing.
  • Budget: We passed the 90% mark.
Prayer Requests:
  • Raval: To find the initial couple (or individuals) with whom we will start the church plant.
  • Barcelona Housing: To find an affordable, adequate apartment.
From the bottom of our hearts we thank you for praying for us and believing with us,
Steve and Susan
