After the reading, De Veaux will be joined with special guests to discuss her work and her impact in the literary, women's, and black lesbian cultures. Wanted: Youth interested in media, journalism, photography, and art
So you want to be a journalist, a writer, a filmmaker, a photographer or are simply curious about getting together with like-minded people to explore these forms of expression, then you must sign up for the FREE Art for Change storytelling workshop.
This is a hand-on workshop specifically created (with love) for young people living in East Harlem. You will learn from some of the most passionate and accomplished cultural activists. They will mentor you as you learn to conduct "real" interviews of politicians, activists and leaders in your community. You will learn about photography and filmmaking, skills that will always remain with you.
AND IF YOU COMPLETE THE PROGRAM SUCCESSFULLY, you will have the necessary tools to start your own journey as a storyteller, media maker and cultural activist. But, as if these tools were not enough, you will receive compelling college recommendations and make new friends and mentors who really care about you.
