Hello all,

I'm pleased to announce my participation in a couple of local exhibitions:
"This May Have Happened"
September 5 through September 27
Filter Photo at David Weinberg Photography
300 W Superior, #203, Chicago
Opening reception: Friday, September 5, 5-8 pm
Juror's (closing) reception: Friday, September 26, 6:30-8:30 pm

noir #21

My image, "noir #21," shown above, will be in Filter Photo's annual exhibition "This May Have Happened."  I was one of 27 artists accepted out of more than 300 who applied.  You can find out more about the exhibition here.

The exhibition will be held at David Weinberg Photography, a gallery dedicated to contemporary photography and social justice causes, located in Chicago’s River North district.  Juror Gordon Stettinius selected work that celebrates the unresolved visual narrative.
"Sight Unseen"
September 10 through November 6
Noyes Cultural Arts Center
927 Noyes St, Evanston, IL
Opening reception: Sunday, September 14, 3-5 pm
"Close Encounter" photo

I am also thrilled to be part of the exhibition "Sight Unseen," where I will be featured along with two wonderful artists, Ilze Arajs and Jean Sousa.  (Click on their names to view their art.)  Here's a description of the exhibition written by its curator, Alan Leder:

The photographs in "Sight Unseen" closely examine the ephemeral beauty of natural forms while revealing rich metaphors to our own life cycles of birth, growth, and decay. In these series of photos, Ilze Arajs, Larry Chait, and Jean Sousa investigate and visually transform the commonplace in the environment: weathered leaves, multi-hued bark, flower petals, newly sprouted ferns unfurling. Sensuous, anthropomorphic shapes emerge, spectral figural forms meld with petals and grasses. In a decaying leaf, formal elements of almost pure abstraction are revealed, evoking intimate yet vast surfaces to explore.

The work I will be showing comes from my "Bark" and "Leaf Decay" series.  I will have more than 30 pieces on display, most of which have never been exhibited.
The opening is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.  More information can be found here.
That's it for now.  I plan on attending all three receptions.  Hope to see you there.  Please visit my website for the latest on my activities.  Feel free to contact me with any questions/comments.

Best regards,

Larry
