Lesson 389: Why Do We Stumble?
James 3:2 we all stumble in many ways
God has given us the power to stand, and the armor we need to stand. Why do we fail to stand?
The answer is not that our enemy is too strong.
1 John 4:4 he who is in you is greater than he who is in the world.
The answer is not that we are too weak. God’s resurrection power indwells each believer.
Col.2:12 you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead.
The answer is that we don’t really want to resist temptation.
This is hard for us to hear, because of our pride. On the surface, we do want to be free from sin.
But sin still looks appealing, so we sometimes leave the back door unlocked on our armor.
Paul’s final instruction is not to add more armor, but that we would desire to use our armor.

- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
