Lesson 384: Who Supplies the Armor?
Our labor is important and necessary, but our works are not enough to protect us from Satan.
Armor is trusting in what God has already provided.
Have you heard teaching where we supply the armor?
Some say the belt of truth means Bible study, or speaking the truth with integrity. Some say the breastplate means we should act righteously. Some say shoes mean proclaiming the Gospel.
Some say the shield means we should strengthen our willpower, so that Satan can’t split us when he drives a wedge of doubt into a crack in our faith.
Bible study is good. Integrity, righteousness, sharing and strengthening our faith are important.
But are they the proper interpretations of God’s armor?
How would we supply the helmet of salvation and the Word of God (the sword)?
We cannot arm or equip ourselves by what we do.
The armor is: truth, righteousness, the Gospel, faith, salvation & the Spirit.
The question is not “How can I provide the armor?”
The question is “Who supplies the armor?”
The answer is God.
About This Series
The goal of this series is to become more useful in serving the Lord Jesus Christ, as an instrument in the Redeemer's hand. The theme verses for the series are Ephesians 4:22-24, Philemon 11, 2 Timothy 2:21
- to put off your old self, which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,
- and to put on the new self, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.
- Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.
- Therefore, if anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable, he will be a vessel for honorable use, set apart as holy, useful to the master of the house, ready for every good work.
