Winery News
Wine Tasting
We will be open for wine tasting from noon to 5 pm on August 30 and 31. If harvest has started, ask us for a peek inside the winery as you might have the chance to see and smell and maybe taste freshly crushed juice.
We will also be open for tasting on September 27 and 28 and again on October 4 and 5.
Recent Bottlings
We recently bottled about 1300 cases including Cabernet, Chardonnay, Front Porch (Orange Peach Chardonnay), Merlot, Pinot, Pinot Grigio, Syrah, and Zinfandel. Most of these new wines will be available in the spring.
New Varietals
We will soon introduce two new varietals and our first blend. The new varietals are Zinfandel from the Moniz Vineyard in the Santa Clara Valley and Pinot Grigio from the Central Coast. Vintner’s Select, a handcrafted blend of Santa Cruz Mountains Cabernet and Merlot, will be our first blend and will be released in the spring.
Harvest News
As you may have heard, harvest is happening a bit early this year, mostly due to the extended drought that California is experiencing. Happily, the drought does not seem to have had any ill effects on the quality of the grapes, just on the timing.
We expect to begin harvesting Pinot next week when the Brix hits about 24. Brix is the measurement scale used to determine grape sugar content, which helps the winemaker decide the optimal time for harvesting grapes in order the achieve balanced flavor and alcohol content.
