Dear Friends,

Technically fall may not be upon us quite yet but that distinct chill is in the air here in Denver. I'm very excited because that means ArtPrize is just around the corner. In fact, just a little over two weeks away. For those of you within driving distance of Grand Rapids, MI this will certainly be an amazing event worthy of travel. With any luck, I'll be visiting this year myself.

Updates / Events

August Blog. If you missed my announcement on social media, I posted a new blog on Tumblr at the end of August. In this peek behind-the-scenes, I tell you all about the tools involved in making Beauty in Blood on my end. My tools aren't as high tech a Rob's but they're still fun. Read all about it!

August Cycle. Thankfully we are getting some really great images again. Originally I was planning to release the new images on a monthly basis like in 2013. However, upon further reflection, I am going to hold the new images for release in the new year.

ArtPrize is a radically open, independently organized international art competition. Occurring annually, the 19-day competition turns three square miles of downtown Grand Rapids, Michigan, into an open playing field for art and creative expression. At ArtPrize, everyone is invited to find a voice in the conversation about what art is, and why art matters. It’s unorthodox, highly disruptive, and undeniably intriguing to the art world and the public alike.

GRAVITY
September 26 - October 11, 2014

FLATSstudio
1050 W. Wilson Avenue (Uptown neighborhood)
Chicago, IL

I am pleased to announce my participation in the inaugural group exhibition at FLATSstudio in Chicago, IL. With this launch event, the curators goal is to create a group show that exemplifies the future of the space. Under the unifying theme of "Gravity," 10 artists have been brought together whose work communicates the power of some uncontrollable, unseen force upon our lives, culture and art practice.

If you are interested in attending the Private Artist / Opening Reception on the evening of Friday, September 26, please let me know so that I can add your name to the guest list.

Exhibition viewed by appointment only. Please inquire for details.

Curatorial Debut

Widening the Cycle - A Menstrual Cycle & Reproductive Justice Art Exhibit
June 4-6, 2014
Suffolk University
Boston, MA

As I mentioned in July, I am curating a menstrual cycle and reproductive justice theme art show, entitled Widening the Cycle, for display during the upcoming biennial conference of the Society for Menstrual Cycle Research.

To help make this show inclusive and diverse, I need YOUR help. If you know any women artists whose work addresses menstruation or reproductive justice, please share the Call for Art with them. I am seeking broad interpretations and multicultural perspectives on this theme from both emerging and experienced artists.

All the bloody best,

PS. If you dig the art, please share it.
