August Issue- Casa Vieja Lodge- Guatemala: Experience 5-Star Angling

Two 35-ST Contender's Arrive at
Casa Vieja Lodge

One small step for Capt David Salazar... One GIANT leap for Casa Vieja Lodge as our 35-ST Contender's are now at home in Guatemala. Capt David Salazar, Capt Nicho Alvarenga, and our Fleet's Chief Engineer Jorge Archilla made the beautiful, smooth and fast ride from Miami to the Caribbean side of Guatemala in three days, then put these beauties on trailers, and now both are in the cool Pacific waters.  If you are looking to do some inshore fishing in the morning and catch up with the rest of the Fleet's billfish releases by lunch, then the El Cadejo and Pez Raton are your best choice for comfort, speed, and all-around angling ability. Both boats are available NOW for bookings throughout the year and are the most competitive price in our fleet, full week packages starting at $2,250/per angler. Call us at 1-800- 882-4665 for more information or to secure your maiden voyage!

Fishing Highlights

Every year, The Billfish Foundation (TBF) recognizes the captains, mates and anglers (including youth and ladies) who tag and release the most billfish in each of the world’s oceans. The competition is categorized by billfish species, ocean, and whether the fish were tagged or released untagged.  Award winners are recognized at TBF’s Annual Tag & Release Awards Ceremony held during the Miami International Boat Show. Half way through the year we are proud to announce Casa Vieja Lodge has 3 of the top 5 Overall Tagging Captains, and the top 4 of the Top Tagging Captains for the Pacific Ocean: Capt Chris Sheeder, Capt David Salazar, Capt Nicho Alvarenga, and Capt Chico Alvarenga. Of course this isn't possible without the help of our mates and foremost our Anglers who choose to Tag Billfish! Check out the full report HERE and request to Tag Billfish on your next adventure!
  • From August 5th-8th, Captain Nicho of the Spindrift fishing with John Phillips and son Marco did work on the sailfish with 87 raises, 81 bites, and 57 releases. In addition, 1 striped marlin bite, and 6 blue marlin raises, 3 bites, and 1 release of a 400lb! Someone said something about seasonal fishing?! Not in Guatemala!
