New CEAH Research Funding Opportunities


CEAH now offers new and revised RFPs to tenured and tenure-track faculty in the arts and humanities.

CEAH Fellowship in the
Arts and Humanities

Letter of Intent due Sept 9th

This fellowship will distinguish a well-established ISU scholar who has recently completed a major scholarly project, or who will complete such a project during the early part of the fellowship period, and will present this research to the ISU community in public lectures and a short series of colloquia and forums. Awards of up to $10,000 will be negotiated as a FY15 grant account or course release (Spring 2015), based on the proposed activities for the fellowship period. (see RFP)

CEAH invites proposals from associate and full professors for support in creating competitive applications to prestigious awards, fellowships, and grants from funding agencies recognized by the Association of American Universities (AAU).   Funding of up to $15,000. (see RFP )


Research Grant - Fall Call
Due: Sept 30th

The CEAH provides grants for research and creative activity that will make a significant contribution to the scholarly development and academic career progression of faculty in the arts and humanities. Projects should employ predominantly artistic and humanistic approaches and have outcomes clearly falling within the arts and humanities disciplines. (see RFP


Symposium Grant - for FY15
Due: November 3rd

Funds ($2K - $10K) to support the creation of artistic and scholarly conferences, symposia, or seminars on ISU's campus that will attract significant national attention and bring recognition to the scholarly work being done by ISU's arts and humanities faculty. (see RFP)

CEAH Research Summit

Thursday, October 23rd,  302 Catt Hall

The CEAH announces the first annual Arts and Humanities Research Summit to be held on Thursday, October 23rd.

This inaugural summit will be a half-day event comprised of two panel presentations and several "lightning round" sessions where each participant will introduce their creative and research-based scholarship in timed four-minute segments.

Lightning rounds provide a quick but rich overview of an individual's work to an audience. This format will showcase a broad cross section of inspiring arts and humanities research at ISU. Proposals are invited for participation in the lighting rounds. (more). 
 

Call for Nominations
Donald Benson Memorial Lecture on
Literature, Science and the Arts


The Center for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities (CEAH) welcomes one-page nominations for the Donald R. Benson Memorial Lecture set for Spring 2015.

This annual lecture fund honors Donald Benson, a former ISU English professor and department chair, who had a long-term interest in the relationship between these intellectual disciplines.

Faculty at ISU are encouraged to submit a one-page nomination which should include: nominee's name, contact information, research focus, and a solid paragraph explaining the reason this scholar would be important to ISU's research faculty and broader research interests of its departments in LAS and the College of Design. Be specific as to your professional, working contacts with the individual.

The invited scholar will be required to be in residence at ISU for two days, give one public lecture in the evening, and meet with ISU faculty and research scholars, as well as administrators in the CEAH. (more)

DAAD Program Officer to visit ISU campus


A program officer from the DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst) or the German Academic Exchange Service will be on ISU's campus September 15th and 16th.

The DAAD offers a variety of funding opportunities suitable to researchers all across campus as well as arts and humanities faculty including: 
 

  • Research Visit Grant and Arts Study Grants - 1-3 months of time to pursue research at universities, libraries, archives, institutes or laboratories in Germany. Grants are awarded for specific research projects and cannot be used for travel only, attendance at conferences or conventions, editorial meetings, lecture tours or extended guest professorships.
     

  • DAAD Visiting Professorships - 3 months to 2 years of University teaching at the German University faculty rate (plus health insurance). Classes may be taught in English or German.
     

Monday, September 15th (events held in Design 130):

  • 3pm - 4pm  - DAAD funding overview,  a one-hour presentation to faculty

  • 4pm -5pm  - DAAD opportunities for undergrad and grad students, a one-hour presentation fro ISU staff involved with study abroad and exchange programs

Tuesday, September 16th (meetings held in MU):

  • 30 minute individual meetings by appointment.
