Did you know thermography is safe and effective for women with breast implants?  Breast implants are temperature neutral; therefore, the temperature behind the implants radiates to the surface of the skin.  The high-tech infrared thermography camera picks up the heat signature and measures it.
September Special: the first three clients that book appointments for September 19, 2014 at the Qualicum Beach clinic will receive a free copy of "Secrets to Breast Health" by Cindy Simmons.

Thermography and Breast Density

Breast density may affect the results of a mammogram and may result in a false sense of security especially when the woman has dense breasts.  Denser breasts contain less fat and more connective and glandular tissue which appear white on a mammogram, similar to a cancerous tumor.  Some cancerous tumors can remain undetected by mammograms for many years in women with dense breasts which may lead to poor survival outcomes.

Thermography is a great tool to assess breast health for women with dense breasts as it is a non-invasive functional testing of heat patterns and is not affected by breast density.

It is important for woman to know what type of breasts they have and discuss the best breast screening tool with their healthcare provider.
