Hi!

After a summer of planning, practicing, and composing, the fall is now imminent and I thought I would share some news. My upcoming projects include concerts with ensemble et cetera, a new multimedia piece, a new CD, and a tour; more details are below.
Hoping everyone's summer was wonderful,
Scott

ensemble et cetera

October 10th: UC San Diego
ensemble et cetera premieres four new works from our 2013 composition competition – music by Joseph Andrew Lake, Timothy McCormack, Dimitri Papageorgiou, and Jeremy Wagner. 7pm. Conrad Prebys Music Center, Recital Hall. Free.

January 9th: UC Santa Barbara
et cetera travels to Santa Barbara to read pieces by composition students and perform a concert of works in our repertoire.

Space Administration

I've been working on a multimedia piece for bass, electronics, and projected text based on the poem "Apollo Spacecraft" by Ken Hunt. You can enjoy some sample space sounds I made by clicking here (mp3, slow fade in).

Performances are planned for May 29th in San Diego and mid-July in Los Angeles, date TBD.

new CD / west coast tour

I'm very excited to announce that Populist Records will be releasing another CD of my music in the spring of 2015. This disc will include pieces written for multiple double basses and for solo bass and electronics. The ensemble works are recorded and I'll get into the studio to do the solos over the next few months.

Along with this disc, I'm in the early stages of planning a west coast tour. If you're up the coast and want to hear music for bass and electronics or if you have any leads or ideas about venues, please get in touch! I have some places in mind but would be very happy to play anywhere.

other news

Guitarist Pablo Gomez, percussionist Dustin Donahue, and I will go to Stanford this coming November and April to work with composition students and perform new works for our trio. In November, we'll meet with the students and in April we'll give two concerts–one of their music and one of solos and other works.
Be sure to check out how Nat Evans's PCT project, The Tortoise..., has evolved. There're new pieces up on SoundCloud and more posts on Instagram.
