What are we expecting?
We are expecting our first grandchild in September! Mazel Tov!
On the 1st September we depart for South Africa, Ian for 4 weeks and Penny for 7 weeks. Megan our daughter who lives with us is already in South Africa with her pregnant sister Bronwyn and her husband Chris. She will also stay with her brother Gareth who is getting married shortly to Liza. She left with extra luggage for the new baby as baby things are now cheaper in the UK than South Africa. There is much joy in the McDonald family at this time with the addition of a grandson, and a daughter-in-law and a teenager grandson. On the house front we have only had a couple come to view the house and another person cancelling their viewing. So it looks like the Lord is keeping us in this house for longer. We give thanks and praise to the Lord as we trust in Him.
We will be going into our ninth month of ministry in the Chorley area. It may be good to look back on what the Lord is birthing through the ministry in this area. Todate we have a well established and growing group of people in Chorley who regularly attend our weekly Bible studies and another one operating in Lancaster. We have started up a monthly afternoon Sabbath Celebration at the Chapel House in Chorley together with monthly Sabbath prayer times in Lancaster while having monthly Shabbat fellowship meals both in Chorley and Lancaster. We have just held our second Shabbat gathering up in North Yorkshire with a wonderful group of people who are very keen to learn more about the Hebraic roots of Christianity. We are fully expectant for much fruit from all these gatherings as people are touched by the truth of Scripture and the Ruach HaKodesh reveals more of our Jewish Messiah.
'I have a Friend Who's Jewish, Do You?' is a book by Don Goldstein, a Messianic Rabbi we met in Florida, which we now have in stock for sale. It is a great book for evangelism as it answers many questions, both Jewish and non-Jewish people have about the Bible and life in general, while gently pointing them to our Jewish Messiah. We are selling them for £3-00 plus postage if you are interested especially in evangelism.
Over the last month we have had a major focus on what has been happening between Israel and Gaza and the whole of the Middle East. The lines seem to be drawing between those who have a heart for Israel and the Jewish people, and those who are against Israel and the Jewish people. It makes one think of Yeshua speaking about separating the sheep from the goats in Matthew 25. The sheep are those who have cared for the least of "my brethren" in verse 40. Who are Yeshua's brethren? The Greek word
adelphos Strongs (G80) is defined as brother, belonging to the same people, fellow believer, etc. So first and foremost Yeshua is referring to His Jewish people. How we treat them leads to how we will be judged by our King Messiah! No way do I wish to be judged as a goat, but how many people (in the church) are heading down the route of being judged as goats is frightening. Many today are not taught what Scripture says about Israel. More people including those in the church believe the media more than God's Word.
We are having our third monthly Shabbat Celebration on Saturday 30 August in Chorley with a guest speaker who is on her way back to minister in Israel. On Thursday evening the 25 September Mike Fryer from Father's House in North Wales will come to share about Rosh Hashanah at the Chapel House in Chorley. This will be followed by a very special event the following month when the Sh'ma Dancers present the story of Israel in dance and drama on the evening of the 16 October on
Simcha Torah at Emmaus Fellowship in Chorley. All are welcome to attend.
If anybody is interested in coming to the meeting could they please make contact so that we can give them the details of where we will be meeting or check
events on our website.
The weekly Torah study evenings will continue while we are away with worship, prayer and study of the
weekly Parashah Torah and HavTorah readings together with the applicable readings from the Gospels and Epistles. Anyone is more than welcome to join us on a Thursday in Chorley or a Monday evening in Lancaster
