Greetings <<First Name>>,

We hope you will agree with us that the future health of a community depends largely on empowering young people to be leaders for positive change in the future.

Below check out both a video and an article about the progress being made by youth leaders in three of the rural communities where we work!

Youth Empowered in Cumaica Norte and El Coyol Through PhotoVoice

By Andre Scarlato

Amidst the lowing of the cattle and the cries of the birds, the youth of Cumaica Norte gather at the Casa Base on Tuesday, August 11, just as they have been doing for the past few Tuesday’s. This meeting, however, is not to organize the next soccer or baseball game amidst friends. Rather, it is part of an initiative to empower the youth of the community, called JOSECHAS (“Youth planting seeds to harvest hope”). Based on the idea that real change must happen at a young age, JOSECHAS was created to target the youth in the communities that AMOS partners with in order to create more sustainable grassroots change through community development. The program was first piloted in the community of San Onofre, Boaco, and because of its overall success, AMOS has now been implementing the program this year in Cumaica Norte and El Coyol.

AMOS wants to celebrate BIG this fall. But we can't do it without you.

This October and November, we need volunteers to HOST PARTIES to help us celebrate and raise awareness about the life-saving care that our health promoters, health committee members, and volunteer mothers provide where there is no doctor or clinic, the importance of empowering communities in need and providing people with access to clean water.

We will provide you with all the resources, guidance, and support you need to organize a successful house party. All you need is a place to gather, some food to share, and the desire to help spread the word about AMOS!

You may have seen the #ALS Ice Bucket Challenge taking the web by storm lately. Instead of dumping ice on your head and donating by yourself, why not get your closest friends, your business colleagues, and family members together to HAVE A PARTY for the health of Nicaragua, and give together!

If you believe in the work of AMOS and want to help us spread the word to others, SIGN UP today to host a house party this fall!

Coming Soon!

An incredible group of volunteers, interns, and Global Health Practicum students have all just returned to their home countries after working, learning, and serving with us in Nicaragua the past few months. We are so grateful for all their contributions to AMOS' work related to nutrition and water and sanitation in the rural communities. And though it is a ways off, we are already getting ready for our Summer 2015 Global Health Practicum

Be on the lookout for a special email mid-September about their experiences and how you can be involved next summer!
Thank you Delegations and Interns:
