OEB Continues Consultation on TC's Energy East Project

In November 2013, Ontario's Minister of Energy asked the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) to examine and report on TransCanada PipeLines Limited's proposed Energy East Pipeline from an Ontario perspective. The OEB is undertaking a two stage consultation process  to "provide a forum for Ontarians to express their views on the proposed Energy East Pipeline". North Bay was one of seven communities visited in April, and these same communities will receive a return visit this fall, asking for input on summary reports prepared of the April consultation, and on the OEB's experts' review of TransCanada's application to the National Energy Board. The most recent estimate is that TransCanada will file their application in late September, and the OEB experts will take 6-7 weeks to review the application before reporting to the OEB. Community meetings would follow. The next OEB session in North Bay will be late fall or early winter. The Government of Ontario intends to participate as an intervenor in the National Energy Board's (NEB) review of the proposed Energy East Pipeline and the Minister will use the OEB's report to help formulate the Government's position.

North Bay's Conspiracy of Three is hosting 100 Thousand Poets for Change on  September 26 & 27. "Water (W)rites: Waking To Elemental Wisdom" is the theme for the North Bay events, chosen in light of the potential threat the proposed Energy East Project poses to the city's drinking water and Nestle Chairman Peter Brabeck-Letmathe's claim that "access to water is not a public right". The 100 Thousand Poets For Change (1HTPFC) International movement promotes activist art forms focused on peace, sustainability, social justice and political change. The movement has announced Saturday, September 27, 2014 to be their Global Event Day. Three events are currently planned for North Bay,  including an evening welcoming event September 26, an outdoor afternoon event September 27, and the feature event, held on the evening of September 27. The events aim to include the North Bay creative community at large and provide enlightening, engaging and enjoyable attractions to the general public of the city. Creative participants may be individuals or groups. While poets, musicians, and performance artists will be given priority, all disciplines are open to consideration. Submissions displaying relation to the events' themes will increase chances of those submissions' success. Watch for details From the Conspiracy of Three Facebook page
