• Smart Car Reviews:  The 2006 convertible diesel Smart Car has been in operation for about a month in Nelson.  We have had a lot of different types of feedback good and bad.  Just to let you know the purchase of this vehicle was an excellent deal and if we run it for a year and decided members do not like we can sell it for the same or more than we bought it.  Overall most the feedback has been positive, people are enjoying the zippiness of the vehicle and report feeling safe while they drive.  Drawbacks that have been noted is the diesel smell, trouble getting over Kootenay pass, children with carseats cannot go in this car and the convertible top compromises the minimal storage area when retracted.  Some members have also had issues starting the vehicle.  There is a safety feature that locks the ignition if the doors have been unlocked for more than five minutes.  If you lock then unlock the ignition works.  There is a note in the vehicle about this but we have had to walk members through it on the emergency cell too.  Your feedback is important to us.  If you take the vehicle out please let us know what you think!  Worried about Smart Cars in winter?  Check out this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pJyiPUiF4XQ

• ED On Leave for October:  I will be heading to Victoria from October 4 and returning November 3rd.  Bruce and Andrea will take good care of all of you in my absence.  Office hours will be reduced to Monday-Wednesday 10am-3pm during this time.
• Maxx Matrix Swap:  The Chevy Maxx will be going to Rossland to accommodate a member that does not drive standard from September 24th - October 4th.  The Matrix will be parked at the Maxx location at 915 Third Street in Fairview.
• Gas Surcharge:  Wondering how we cacluate the gas surcharge?  We take the cost per KM for all vehicles for the month based on fuel purchases and average them.  So when gas prices go up or larger vehicles are used more often then there is a greatly likelihood of a gas surcharge.  You are still saving though as the weekly gas prices peak and fall these incidence are evened out throughout the month when purchasing gas for 22 vehicles.  Your feedback on gas surcharges are always welcome too!
