Well met, Citizens of Spoon River Rochester!
Our next video is a preview of the work that we will be doing in rehearsal.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I wear a black (skirt, pants, jacket)?
All visible costume pieces MUST be grey or white. Eyewear is the only exception.

I'm a woman.  My character is a man.  Do I have to wear men's clothes?
No, we don’t think it is necessary. This project was created with the idea that one community would represent another, finding the spirit of the town but not necessarily recreating a historical production. Most of the casting was completed without consideration of usual methods: physical traits, personality, ethnicity, age, gender, stereotypes. We encourage performers to find the essence of the character and connect with the audience in a way that goes beyond social definitions.

Do I have to memorize my poem?
We ENCOURAGE you to memorize your poem, but it is not required. We suggest that you put a copy of your poem in a book. We have also heard of a few performers creating small headstones for their character out of foam core.

How did my character die?
Some of the poems are clear in how their character died, most are not so clear. Read the poem a few more times and see if there are any inferences, guesstimations or conclusions. There is not necessarily a correct answer.
