North York Arts E-News - September 2014

We Love Culture!

September is here and NYA is working away on the various fall programming plans including gearing up for the Culture Days weekend from September 26 – 28. Culture Days' vision is that every individual, regardless of age, location or experience, has the right to access and participate actively in arts and culture!

NYA is thrilled to partner with Toronto Centre for the Arts, Whole Foods Market and Music Nest for this year’s Culture Days events. On September 27th, NYA will be onsite showcasing art and busker talent as part of Whole Foods Market new store opening week at Yonge and Sheppard. This partnership reflects NYA’s vision of bridging the arts, community and local businesses together to celebrate arts and culture in North York. On September 28th, NYA is once again partnering with Music Nest to provide a children’s music workshop during the Toronto Centre for the Arts Open House event. All events are free and we look forward to seeing you there. Other Culture Days events in North York are posted online via northyorkarts.org and culturedays.ca.

Finally, we welcome Melissa Foster back to NYA in a new part-time role as our Communications Coordinator. Melissa will keep you posted on all things NYA so please be sure to follow us on Facebook and Twitter for all updates.

Best,

Lila Karim

NYA Partnered Events:

Culture Days is just around the corner! Culture Days is a non-profit organization dedicated to building a national network of cultural connections devoted to providing Canadians with opportunities to participate in, and appreciate, all forms of arts and culture. Through an annual three-day national celebration each September, hundreds of thousands of artists and cultural organizations in hundreds of cities and towns come together and invite Canadians to participate in free interactive and “behind the scenes” activities to discover their cultural spirit and passion.

On September 27th & 28th NYA will be busy animating North York with our Culture Days partners. Our new friends at Whole Foods Market will be opening their doors on the 23rd at Yonge and Sheppard and we will be joining them on the 27th to celebrate Culture Days with food, face painting and other exciting activities. Visit Whole Foods Market for more info!
On the 28th NYA has partnered with Afarin Mansouri and Music Nest. As a part of Culture Days and the Season Launch Open House at the Toronto Centre for the Arts, Music Nest will be onsite to perform songs from their new musical My Little Heart and to facilitate music and craft-making activities for children.
