Roman Italy: Engineering the Empire, a new LAS Global Seminar, was offered for the first time in May 2014. The program, led by Professors Rachel Meyers (Classical Studies) and David Hollander (History), afforded students a unique opportunity to see first-hand how the ancient Romans built their massive empire across the Mediterranean. John Fleming, Political Science major and Russian Studies minor, graduated from ISU in May 2014. Immediately after graduation, John was hired by Language Link Russia as a teacher-intern. At the end of July he flew to Moscow to start an intensive training program on teaching English as a foreign language.
