** SPECIAL NOTE **
CHURCH BOARD MEMBERS will be available
during two TOWN HALL MEETINGS this weekend to inform and answer questions/concerns regarding the proposed PROPERTY SALE unanimously recommended by the board. These meetings will take place IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING the services on Saturday evening, September 13, and Sunday night, September 14.

We want to thank the following key persons among several volunteers for teaming with Pastor Jack Galloway to coordinate a very successful after-service fellowship this past Sunday night: Jeff and Sheila Falvo, Carlotta Lee, Herb Modesitt, Christy Ralph, Tara Steiber, Bob and Sue Turpin, Paul Troutman, and David Wigart.

Last Friday evening more than 30 people from our congregation participated in a sold-out banquet for Rest Stop Ministries, held at Hermitage Church of the Nazarene. It was an unforgettable event and call for us to be Christ's "hands and feet" in this critical issue affecting Nashville, the state of Tennessee, our nation, and our world. The challenge was given to raise funds to enable Rest Stop to purchase the Setzer/Parker property in Lebanon for a residential restoration program for adult women who leave sex trafficking and its enslavement to seek new life and transformation in Christ. It is truly a miracle story unfolding, and NFCN and our Kenya Partnership are major partners in this effort. More details will be forthcoming

We welcomed Jimmy Blackman as part-time Connections Associate this past Sunday. He will coordinate visitor follow-up and assimilation of new people into our congregation, as well as assisting Pastor Bob Milburn with the Emmaus Fellowship as part of his assignment. This position has been funded by the Turner Grant through the 510 Foundation. Please welcome Jimmy to our team; we're glad he and Sandy are part of us! We also announced a change of title and scope of duties for Pastor Bob Milburn. As Urban Ministries Pastor, Bob will oversee all ministries that are part of extending Christ in the urban core of Nashville. Through generous funding by the Turner Grant and 510 Foundation, Bob now serves full-time in this role. We love Bob and Lisa and are excited about the expanding work of urban ministries at Nashville First Church!

We anointed Chuck Mashburn Sunday morning on behalf of his father-in-law, our much-loved brother Gerald Skinner, as hosts of people from our congregation, across the Trevecca region, and around the world, are praying for Gerald's recovery from a near-fatal kayaking accident in Wyoming. Significant progress has been made, and our support for family members at Gerald's side continues. For recent story from the local Brentwood newspaper, click here.

The Haiti and Kenya partnerships are now an integral part of the culture of NFCN and will be for many years to come. I am so excited to be the pastor of a congregation boldly walking forward in obedience to the Holy Spirit as we reach out to our world in Jesus' name, continuing the legacy and heritage of this great church.

Reaching Beyond International (RBI) is now a division of the 510 Foundation, taking on a new name for the organized effort to build partnerships in Haiti for providing medical clinics, water wells, etc.  RBI is based and focused from our Haitian congregation, along with others from NFCN, but also reaches across Nashville and the US to engage everyone interested in helping achieve great results for God's Kingdom in Haiti. Pastors Maromy and Nahomie Samuel are leading this expanded ministry and we are excited with them for what lies ahead!

The Kenya Partnership has been launched to respond to gender-based violence in a number of ways, and has a very important meeting this Sunday September 14 at 4:00 PM in Reed 100. ANYONE who is interested in traveling to Kenya in June 2015, or helping in any way with the partnership, even if you cannot go, is urged to attend. Bring others who may be interested with you - whether they are part of NFCN or not! We have narrowed our areas of focus within Kenya to seven potential projects, depending on who will go and what skills or gifts they bring to the project. The Holy Spirit is moving among us and many are sensing His call. We are excited about this great opportunity!

Friends, obedience to God's call in these areas will not only impact people in these two countries, but will transform lives right here in middle Tennessee and further our local ministries here as well. God blesses a missional church! He always has, and always will!

As I have been involved in various meetings and discussions about these two partnerships in recent days, my heart has been stirred. I thank God that I personally can be a part of this kind of missonal effort. To God be the glory - great days are ahead!

CHERYL'S LIST - TURNING EMPTY ROOMS INTO HOMES
Cheryl's List is growing! Referrals from social agencies, NFCN, and word of mouth have caused the work to double each month.  Because the 510 Foundation allocated a significant monetary gift to purchase mattresses and many people from NFCN and other interested individuals have donated used furniture in good condition, Cheryl's List has been able to "turn empty rooms into homes" for  families in difficult circumstances who are transitioning into housing, including honorably discharged veterans, single mothers with children, individuals with serious health problems, etc.  To serve effectively, Cheryl's List needs your prayers that God will continue to provide for the missional needs. These needs include:

1.  Donation of a  large, dry space (warehouse) to store and prepare items for delivery. (We've outgrown Eddie's 2-car garage!)
2.  Donations of furniture in good condition and funds to purchase mattresses and other household items.  (PayPal or in church offering)
3.  Volunteers with strong backs to help with furniture pickup and deliveries, usually in the evening.
Leave a message at 838-2197 to donate or volunteer.  Thank you for your continued support!

EAST NASHVILLE SCHOOL PARTNER SOCK & UNDERWEAR DRIVE
Join us in purchasing new packages of socks and underwear for elementary children in our area schools. These children are 4-10 years old. Sizes to purchase for boys or girls may range from 2 Toddler through 18 Youth. We will collect these items in the receptacle located in the foyer through September 28. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Sabrina Jones.

ORANGE CURRICULUM DURING CHILDREN'S CHURCH
Our NFCN Kids have begun an exciting new curriculum on Sunday mornings called ORANGE. This is an amazing curriculum that blends the heart of the home (red) with the Light of the Church (yellow) to make Orange. The partnership between parents/grandparents and fellow members of the Body of Christ is a critical relationship during the years of rearing a child. One very useful tool that you can purchase for $1.99 is the Parent Cue App (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD). Use either your iPhone, Android, or iPad to download this App, and keep in touch with valuable tools and resources that will allow you to continue the spiritual journey with your child throughout the week. Both parents and grandparents will benefit from having access to this App. In addition, there is a website for our elementary children to use, at the discretion of their parents, which goes along with the lessons they will be learning on Sundays: http://studio252.tv/. If you have any questions, please contact Pastor Sabrina Jones.
