Wesley International Academy; Set and Ready

Set and Ready

September 1, 2014
Dear Wesley families,

I hope you had an enjoyable and restful Labor Day holiday.  By all indications, a little time off was needed for everyone.

As we prepare to get back to work tomorrow morning, please be reminded that the school will now begin incentivizing and rewarding students who meet some of the most critical expectations of our school community.  Chief among those include on-time arrivals (being seated and ready for class by 8:00 a.m.) and absolute uniform compliance.

This year, we intentionally implemented a month-long "adjustment period" to allow the school community to become adjusted to new changes, and we hope that that flexibility has been well received.  We are now, however,  transitioning out of that phase.

With regard to uniforms, I would kindly ask that you revisit the 2014-2015 policy found here: http://www.wesleyacademy.org/wesleyadmin/wp-content/uploads/2014/06/WIA-Uniform-Policy-FINAL.pdf. If there are any questions, feel free to contact me directly or call the school for any clarifications that may be necessary.  To date, we have been much improved with regard to general uniform compliance, but we are experiencing a few minor violations including socks, footwear, and accessories.  Again, please make certain that you review the uniform policy and let us know if you have any questions.

Concerning on-time arrivals, please take note of the Wesley International Academy Tardy Policy:

1st – 3rd Tardy: Student receives a warning.
5th Tardy: Warning letter from the Director of Culture and Discipline
10th Tardy: Parent must attend a mandatory conference with the Director of Culture and Discipline. Student is not permitted to return to school until the conference is held.
12th Tardy: Significant disciplinary action will be taken including, but not limited to, multiple-day suspension, school service, detention, or any combination thereof. In addition, the student runs the risk of being retained for the current school year.
15th Tardy: Student will be referred by their grade level Guidance Counselor to the Fulton County Court System.

Morning Check-In:
  • Entrance:  Auditorium
  • Tardy time:  8:01 AM
  • Check-In:
    • Before 8:30: NO ADULT REQUIRED
    • After 8:30: MANDATORY ADULT SIGN-IN for K-5th
Students/Parents will be required to sign-in at the tardy desk.  Students will also be issued a TARDY entrance pass which is mandatory for class entry.

As always, we truly appreciate your cooperation and support.  Take good care and we'll see you in the morning.

Regards,

Duke Bradley, III
Executive Director
