Emotions Dance is teaming up with Orlando’s best in modern, improv, and contemporary dance to engage and enlighten audiences with new, experimental, and in-progress works all under one roof.
After the performance, there will be a Q& A with the Artistic Directors to allow audiences to provide feedback as well as gain insight into the creative process.
A one-of-a-kind annual event hosted by Emotions Dance Company, The Shift: Calm & Chaos focuses primarily on shifting our perception of movement, dance, and art while allowing companies to grow and change as artists.
Companies participating this year include: Emotions Dance Company, Voci Dance, Yow Dance, Dawn Branch Works, Canvas Creative Coalition, Red Right Return Dance Company, Mary Love Dance Projects, Coby Dance Project and a special opening number by students from Turning Pointe- A Dance Studio!

Indulge your Senses with 7 Deadly Sins
Emotions Dance Company will host a mixed-medium art and performance event entitled 7 Deadly Sins on two separate weekends—Fri., Oct. 17 and Sat., Oct. 18, 2014, and Fri., Oct. 24 and Sat.,Oct. 25, 2014, at The Venue, 511 Virginia Drive, Orlando. Each performance begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $20 presale, or $25 at the door. We will have tickets available for purchase at The Shift: Calm & Chaos Event on Sept 19 & 20, 2014.
7 Deadly Sins is an original work that combines contemporary dance, visual art, performance art, poetry, music and culinary art to examine topics of temptation and sin. Lust, pride, gluttony, sloth, wrath, envy and greed come together to entice audience members through an interactive art gallery setting.
7 Deadly Sins will feature performances by Emotions Dance Company; visual art by award-winning body painter and “Skin Wars” season 1 contestant Shannon Holt; visual art by award-winning body painter Brit Lytle; artwork by Patrick Fatica, Amanda Wegman, Scott Hodges, Thomas Thorspecken and others; spoken word performances by E.J. Younes, J. Bradley, and Ashley Inguanta; aeral performances by American Circus Academy. The evening will include a variety of refreshments from local food vendors to satisfy your inner glutton.
Emotions Dance Auditions for Professional Dancers
Emotions Dance is currently seeking professional level dancers (age 18 and over) to audition for their 2014/2015 season. Dancers must be strong technical dancers and willing to take artistic risks.
Auditions will take place on; Tuesday September 23, 2014 from 9-1030pm, and will be located at Turning Pointe (470 E Lake Brantley Dr. Longwood).
Dancers should be prepared for ballet barre, progressions across the floor with turns and jumps, a contemporary dance combination, improvisational movement, and should prepare a solo (under 2 minutes) to show to the Artistic Director at the end of class. Pointe work is advantageous but not a must. Dancers should also come prepared with a professional resume and headshot.
Participation in EDC is contractual and pay for performances is available. Injury benefits are available as well. All costumes and dancewear is supplied by EDC at no cost to dancers. Dancers who make the company will be expected to commit to company classes (Tuesday nights) and all rehearsals they are scheduled, which are held on Thursday and Sunday evenings. There are many performance opportunities throughout the year with the company. Currently, Emotions Dance has three spots open for females, three spots open for males and one apprentice (15-18 yrs old) position open.
