Sir Paul and Lady Reeves
Scholarship Fund

The Sir Paul and Lady Reeves Scholarship Fund was launched in 2012 in the loving memory of Sir Paul.  This fund enables scholarships for those who would otherwise be unable to take part in Leadership NZ’s leadership programmes.

We believe there should be no unreasonable economic barrier for an individual to participate, and so scholarships are an essential part of ensuring the diversity of participants in our programme.

Leadership NZ and our scholarship recipients would greatly appreciate your support.  You can make an on-line donation at our webstore or contact us on 09 309 3749.

If it had not been for a scholarship, Olive Brown may not have been able to participate in the Leadership NZ leadership programme. You can read her story here »

Food for thought

Valuing Diversity of Behaviour

In organisations and teams, there is often a lack of understanding and acceptance of diversity in various forms - ethnicity; gender; length of service; thinking styles; values etc.

One significant factor that can get in the way of effective working is a lack of awareness about how to work with people who are of a different behaviour (some might call it personality) style to you.

Class of 2012 Retreat

– April 2014

Leadership for the Future

In early April, 17 members of the 2012 Leadership NZ (LNZ) Alumni gathered at Waiheke Island’s beautiful Piritahi Marae for a weekend retreat.

When asking the attendees what their highlights were, it was unanimous that one of the most wonderful things was to reconnect with each other again – not just socially, but to dive back in to the mind-expanding, challenging, deep thinking framework that we know and love from LNZ.

Class of 2013 Retreat

– June 2014

Reconnecting

In late June members of the Leadership New Zealand (LNZ) 2013 programme met on Waiheke Island for its two day retreat. This was something we had been looking forward to for a long time and for me, it felt like a homecoming of sorts back on our ‘island’...

Pay it forward

Alumni Update

- A powerful waterfall starts with one drop

Inspired by the 2012 Leadership New Zealand group’s Northridge declaration, Andrew Sharp, (then General Manager of Soanar based in Sydney) felt compelled to act on what he had learnt throughout the year. He focused on his leadership journey and messages from inspiring speakers who came and addressed their group.  Having increased his appreciation and understanding of a wider community within NZ, he wanted to give back in some way whilst still living overseas.  Andrew decided to take action and with his wife Simone realised that while they didn’t have the resources of Bill Gates, they could still make a difference.

You can read about how Andrew did this here »

SkillsBank

SkillsBank is the ‘give back’ part of Leadership NZ where we link up alumni with not for profit organisations to provide pro bono support around a range of areas.

Through SkillsBank, Leadership NZ Alumnus Mark Dunlop joined the Huntington’s Disease Association Auckland (HDAA) in late 2009, taking on the Chair role in 2010. (The seeds for Mark’s involvement were sown by Professor Richard Faull when he spoke to participants of our 2009 Leadership programme).

Mark remains heavily involved and you can read about his and HDAA’s journey since this time here »

Alumni Pay it Forward

Part of Leadership NZ’s ethos is that Alumni make a commitment to “pay it forward”. This can be done in many ways which include speaking at, hosting and sponsoring Leadership NZ sessions and events, financial donations, being a member of ARG, volunteering for SkillsBank projects, being a Trustee, providing voluntary support to Leadership NZ etc.

We wish to acknowledge and thank the following Alumni who have generously supported Leadership NZ across all these activities during the period 24 May – 22 August 2014.
