Hello <<First Name>>
With Labor’s carbon tax scrapped, we now have the opportunity to invest around $30 million worth of savings back into public transport.
And you have an opportunity to shape how it’s spent.
The Government has already delivered an extra 3000 train and bus services, but now we’re doing more and asking Queenslanders whether they want savings invested in reduced fares or more services.
In the next two weeks I hope to hear from Kawana residents on how best to spend the carbon tax savings.
The Queensland Government has issued the call to Queenslanders to have a say on whether they want a five per cent reduction in fares or more bus, train and ferry services.
We promised at the election to improve affordability and never go back to the days of the previous government where fares rose by 15 per cent year after year, while services declined.
We’ve been working hard to turn that around, and with the carbon tax gone, we can continue to deliver our promise to improve front line services and improve the cost of living for families.
We are building the roads and public transport that our growing state needs. Earlier this week I was thrilled to announce a $6M works project to resurface Kawana Way, in the Kawana electorate, in the next 12 weeks.
An online survey opened on Sunday, 31 August and closes at midnight Sunday, 14 September. Visit the TransLink website http://translink.com.au or call on 13 12 30 to provide your feedback. Alternatively, you can email my electorate office at kawana@parliament.qld.gov.au.
The Queensland Government is listening. I urge you to have your say on how we best reinvest this $30 million to ensure a brighter future for all public transport users on the Sunshine Coast.
