ALERT!    A Shopping Trip is Coming Soon

Fall Trip will include many areas of Italy

I leave for Rome mid-October looking for fall specialities to bring back home.  Please make any special requests for items I may not know of or think to pick up especially for you.   I am returning just before Thanksgiving so there's time to think about what you might want for Christmas for yourself or your very good friends.

So far, my plans take us to . . . . .

Rome, Torino, Milan, Bergamo and probably Genoa.  Also several places in Tuscany and Umbria and the Maremma, L'Aquila and ??   I know we will be looking at several olive harvests for olio nuovo, the first pressing and highest anti-oxidant containing extra virgin olive oils.

My plans include more spices from "Spezie famose nel mondo" in Campo dei Fiori. olives, honey from a variety of places, botarga, colatura, a small amount of Parmigiano, farro pasta and new regional specialties I find.  Probably some scarves from Milan and Florence as well.

While I can't bring back fresh chestnuts, I can bring preserved and dried chestnuts as well as figs.  I'll also have plenty of artisinal chocolates.  There is a festival in both Perugia and Torino while I'm there so there should be some fabulous mouthwatering treats.   Do let me know if you have a special request.

GREAT NEWS!           VERY UNIQUE GIFT BASKETS!

These baskets will make a few very discerning people very happy.  They are totally unique.  There is nothing similar available anywhere.  They do not include those tiny, stale packets of tasteless products.  The components of each basket are presonally selected and composed by me.  Each basket will be different, depending on price, availability and possibly include any thoughts  from the purchaser to even personalize the basket more.

Prices range from $200 to $500,  and in addition to food items can include some other special additions I find -  such as cheese knives, or espresso cups, pasta bowl instead of a basket, linen napkins or notepads, calendars or ???   I'm excited about doing a few of these very special baskets and will accept orders on a first come basis until October 10th.

A 50% deposit is required to place an order.  Specify the price you want and any direction about the recipient  (such as a cook or someone who loves to eat Italian or someone who just loves Italy.  Delivery is not included.   The baskets will be available by December 15th.

I am offering a limited number of these very special gift baskets, so order early.  These will be unique gifts long remembered and greatly appreciated.

Please contact me by email at :  expresslyitalian@aol.com if you have any questions.

Perhaps the best news of all is that the exchange rate is at an annual low -- $1.334.   Every bit helps.  I'm hopeful it will stay that low until December.
